"We had a really excellent meal at this restaurant. Although Cafe Soya isn't totally vegetarian, they specialise in vegetarian dishes and have separate veggie and meat menus, the veggie menu being very comprehensive. They store meat and vegetarian products in different fridges and are scrupulous about keeping the preparation and cooking of meat and veggie meals separate. We found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable about veganism, being aware, for instance, of which dishes could easily be adapted for vegans. To start, we chose steamed vegetable pancake rolls, which do look a little pale and unappetizing but are, in fact, delicious! As a main course we had fresh pineapple and sweet chilli tofu, which consisted of generous chunks of crispy tofu and vegetables in a mouth-watering chilli sauce, topped with chunks of fresh pineapple. This was served with noodles and fresh beansprouts. We drank freshly made soya milk. Because we were unable to eat it all, they happily packaged the rest up for us to take home! Not only do they make their own soya milk and shakes, but tofu too. They also serve a range of substitute meat dishes, so don't be put off by 'prawn' or 'ribs' or 'chicken' on the veggie menu. I believe these taste very similar to the real thing so might be worth trying them out on any meat-eating friends (if you have any!) The owners have recently opened a larger restaurant in Upper Dean St, also called Cafe Soya, but this has a more limited choice for vegetarians so I think we'll be returning to the smaller more veggie-friendly Arcadian Soya. Can't wait! "
