Welcome

Welcome to our website! We are a social & active group for vegetarians & vegans(and those aspiring to be) in Redditch and the surrounding area. Group activities vary enormously, and include our monthly meetings/socials which are open to all; regular meals out in the local area; and promoting the many benefits of the veggie/vegan lifestyles by holding information stalls at a variety of local events, mass leafletting and we stage food fairs which attract hundreds of people!
On this website, you'll find details of veggie-friendly restaurants and local shops that cater well for us. You'll also find interesting veggie news items and full details of our forthcoming events. Why not join our forum or our Facebook group, where you can get to know veggies and vegans across Redditch and share news, photos, links and pledge to attend our events.

RVV promotes ways of living free from animal products - for the benefit of people, animals and the environment. We are affiliated to The Vegetarian Society and we are local group contacts for both The Vegan Society and Viva!

Vegetarianism and Religion, a talk in Redditch
A talk exploring the connections between vegetarianism and various religions, with Karen Parham of the Birmingham Vegetarian and Vegan group.
Vegetarianism and religion are strongly linked in a number of religions that originated in ancient India (Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism). In Jainism, vegetarianism is mandatory for everyone, in Hinduism and Mahayana Buddhism it is advocated by some influential scriptures and religious authorities. Comparatively, in the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) and in Sikhism, vegetarianism is not promoted by mainstream authorities. In Christianity and Sikhism, however, there are groups promoting vegetarianism on religious grounds.
All of these religions will be covered in the talk and also Rastafarianism and Hare Krishnas.
The event will take place from 7.30pm at St Georges Community Hall, St Georges Road, Redditch.

Vegan refreshments will be available for everyone from 7.15pm.
